Greenland, a stamp and a souvenir sheet about the Polar explorer Otto Sverdrup.
From 1898 to 1902 he led an expedition to different Canadian islands with the 'Fram'.
The Sverdrup Islands got his name. Canada and Norway also issued stamps about this
voyage with the same pictures, see our
stamp page of April 2004.

Great Britain, a set and a souvenir sheet with the same images 'Ocean Liners'.
In the upper row from left the 'Queen Mary 2' (2004), the 'Canberra' (1961) and the
'Queen Mary' (1936) are depicted. In the lower row the 'Mauretania' (1907), the
'City of New York' (1888) and the 'Great Western' (1838).

Eire, a set with four stamps and a souvenir sheet with two stamps 'Shackleton, Antarctic
Expedition 1914 - 1917'.
The stamps on the souvenir sheet have the same images as the two other stamps of the set.

Saint Pierre et Miquelon, a single stamp with a painting of a fishery village with some boats
and a mighty bollard.
|
Guinea Bissau, a souvenir sheet with six stamps 'Os Impressionistas', the painter of the impressionism.
Among them this stamp with a painting of canoes of the artist Gustave Caillebotte.

Føroyar, a souvenir sheet and two stamps about 'Nordic Mythology'. To this theme stamps
are issued by Danmark, Finland, Iceland, Aland Islands and Norway.
Here we see the god Thor in a boat and the goddess Ran. She is fishing drunken sailors with a net.

Iceand, a single stamp with the fishery cutter 'Coot' of 1904. 100 years ago
the mechanization of the Icelandic fishery fleet started. The 'Coot' was propelled by a steam engine
and was the first trawler owned by Icelanders.

Isle of Man, eight doubled stamps and a souvenir sheet with four stamps, 'D-Day, Operation Overlord'.
60 years ago, 16th June 1944, the Allied went ashore in the Normandy and conquered Germany.
On the other stamps there are tanks, aeroplanes, soldiers and Mr. Churchill depicted.

Føroyar, a souvenir sheet with eight stamps, ' a narrative of the cruise of the yacht 'Maria'
among the Feroe Islands in the summer of 1854', 150 years ago.
Wee see the 'Maria' on the second stamp in the upper row (and right enlarged) and on the third stamp
in the lower row.

Ukraina, a souvenir sheet with three stamps with ships of their own fleet.
Top left the battle cruiser 'Nikolaev',
in in the middle the tanker 'Kriti Amber' and bottom the aircraft carrier 'Adm. Kusnetzow'.

Gibraltar, a souvenir sheet with nine stamps '1704 - 2004, Celebration the Tercentenary of British
Gibraltar'.

Cocos Keeling Islands, Australia, four stamps about the 'Royal Visit 1954'.
50 years ago the young Queen Elizabeth visited these islands. In the background of this stamp we see the

bottom left La Panela and the lightship 'ROU BANCO INGLES'. On the right stamp the tower of
Lobos.

Malaysia, a set with four stamps and a souvenir sheet with one stamp about loghthouses.
From left the tower of Althingsburg, Selangor, then Mukau Head, Pulau Pinang, then Pulau Undan,
Melaka and One Fathom Bank Lighthouse.
Bottom left the tower of Tanjung Tuan.
