2004 September Stamps



Saint Lucia, a single stamp with the Dutch flag Royal Netherlands and a 'Dutch 80 gun ship'. The stamp is the fourth reprint (2000, 2001, 2002, 2004) of an issue of 1996.

Panama Canal
El Salvador, a set with two stamps '1904 - 2004, 100 anniversary of diplomatic contacts between El Salvador and Panama'. Here the maritime stamp with a ship in a lock of the Panama Canal. On the second stamp the flags of the two countries are depicted.


Pitcairn
Pitcairn, a souvenir sheet, '60th anniversary, Royal Navy frigate HMS Pitcairn, commissioned on July 7th 1944 and served in the Atlantic convoy escort role until the end of WW II'. This is the text on the sheet.

Namibia, a set with three stamps 'the fishing industry in Namibia 2004'. To the left there is a trawler, to the right we see the unload of fish-boxes covered with ice. On the third stamp working in a fish factory is depicted.


Lewis&Clark Marshall Island, a se-tenant of three stamps 'Lewis & Clark Explorations Bicentennial'. 200 years before Lewis and Clark started their research voyage upstream the Missouri river. This stamp is titled 'the saga begins'. On the both other stamps there are Indians and a bison herd.


Hongkong, China, a set with six stamps 'the people's liberation army forces, Hongkong'. Among them this stamp called 'Navy'. Navy

Norfolk
Norfolk Island, a set with three stamps and a a souvenir sheet with one stamp 'werken dar shep'. As we can see on the stamps the theme is loading or discharging of a steamer anchored in a roadstead.



Marshall Islands, a se-tenant of four stamps 'June 6 1944 - 2004 - D-Day'. To the right bottom 'Allied amphibious landing'.

Jules Verne
Guinea, three souvenir sheets about Jules Verne. On this sheet we see Jules Verne's 'Nautilus' on the stamp and the USS 'Nautilus' in front, the first submarine with a nuclear powered propulsion system. On the other souvenir sheets a moon landing, a meteorite and a balloon are depicted.


Falkland Islands, a set with five stamps about sheeps and wool. On the one pound value we see the wool bales ready for loading and in the background the steamer SS 'Fitzroy'. wool


Europa Europe
Turkey, a souvenir sheet and a set with two stamps 'Europe'. To the left the maritime top of the sheet with a beach and a harbour scene. To the right the maritime stamp of the set with a surfer.


Russia, a souvenir sheet with one stamp, 300 anniversary of the 'Admiralty Ship Yard'. On the stamp we see the launching of a vessel. dock yard


castle Jersey, three se-tenants 'A Peculiar of the Crown'. The topic is Mont Orgueil Castle, on this stamp in the 13th century togeher with King John. On the other stamps there are the castle in the 17th century with King Charles II and the castle in the 21st century with Queen Elizabeth.


Spain, a single stamp, 'Salinas, Museo de Anclas, Asturias', presumable an anchor museum at Salinas. anchor


Moby Dick
Romania
Romania, a production of nine (!) postcards about 'Moby Dick, On the whale, by Herman Melville'. In the upper row there are the stamps of three cards. To the left a total depicted card, on the stamp we see seamen reefing a sail. The other illustrations on the cards show different whales, Moby Dick and captain Ahab.


Bahamas
Bahamas, a set of five stamps 'Lighthouses of the Bahamas'. From left Elbow Reef 1864, Great Stirrup 1863, Great Isaac 1859, Hole in the Wall 1836 and Hog Island 1817 are depicted.


Alderney, a souvenir sheet with six stamps 'Migrating Birds'. On one of these stamps we see this lighthouse.

Guinea, three souvenir sheets about sea-animals and lighthouses. On this sheet we see the tower of Cape Agulhas and Cape Colombine. On the other sheets there are the towers of Cape Town, Swakopmund, Algoa Bay and Port Elizabeth; lighthouses of South Africa.


Greif
Khersones
Germany, local stamps of the Ridas company at Ribnitz-Damgarten. To the left the 34 cents postcard value shows the German schooner-brig 'Greif', 1951 built at Warnemünde. To the right the 46 cents letter value shows the Ukrainian fullrigger 'Khersones', 1988 built at Gdansk.



To show some more stamps and/or whole souvenir-sheets the pictures are high compressed, so accuracy goes down.
