Germany, a single stamp, centenary of the 'Mittellandkanal', an inland waterway just through the middle of Germany.
We see a bridge over the river Elbe in which the canal is running.

Turkey, a souvenir sheet with four stamps about subm ,arines. Left top TCG (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Gemisi,
ship of the Turkish Republic) 18-Mart S-355, beside TCG Preveze S-353, left bottom TCG Anafartalar S-356,
right TCG Atilay S-347. Anafartalar, 18 Mart and Preveze belong to the German type 209/1400, Atilay
to the German type 209/1200 from shipyard Howaldt, Kiel.

Sierra Leone, a souvenir sheet with eight stamps, D-Day, the greatest invasion 1944.
In the bottom row we see ship stamps with a 'Heavy Cruiser', then a 'Light Cruiser', No 38 (USS SAN FRANCISCO).
Right we see a 'Destroyer Escort', one of them with No. 401 (USS MAURY).
Peter C. (Yahoo ships on stamps group) reports, that the heavy cruiser
belongs to the Cleveland Class which, according to Jane's Fighting
Ships for 1944/45 is a light cruiser! Conversely the USS SAN FRANCISCO is designated as a heavy cruiser in
Jane's !! Looking through The D-Day Ships by John de S. Winser (published by
World Ship Society)
he could not find no mention of either USS SAN FRANCISCO or
USS MAURY taking part in the D-Day operations. Checking through DANFS
it would appear that these two vessels spent their war years in the
Pacific and were not in European waters at all.

Wallis et Futuna, a single stamp, 'La Pirogue Traditionelle', an old pirogue.
A pirogue is a dugout with planks added to the sides for a higher freeboard.

Philippines, a singel stamp, Thomas A. Cloma, SR., Birth Centenary, 1904 bis 2004.
The Philippine citizen Thomas Cloma, lawyer and owner of a fish fleet, sounds out the area of Spratly Islands.
In July 1956 he establishes the protectorate Kalayaan (Freedomsland) with Pagasa as capital.

Norfolk Island, a set with four stamps, 100 years Rotary International. Among them this maritime topic with some
boats under oars 'Beach Carnival'.

Qatar, a set with four stamps, sailing boats. All boats are catamarans. From left top they are named
Qatar 2006 and Daedalus, left bottom Cheyenne and Geronimo.
Maybe there will be a race next year starting from Qatar?

Guinea-Bissau, a souvenir sheet with six stamps 'Aniversario de Julio Verne'. Centenary of the death of the French writer
Jules Verne. Among them this maritime topic with a schooner with no further informations.

Macedonia, a single stamp with Marco Polo and a sailing ship. In 1271 he started his voyage to the Far East with this vessel.
Marco Polo lived from 1254 to 1324, in 2004 there was his 750th anniversary.

Ukraine, two stamps as a se-tenant with a bar between them (not shown here). There are two paintings of the Russian
artist W. Aiwazowski, 1817 - 1900. Left the picture 'Sea, the bight of Koktebel', 1853, right 'Towers on a rock at the
Bosporus', 1859.

Australia, a stamp, to be seen at Maritime Topics on Stamps in August 2004. Now we have a new self-pasting issue.
On this ship posters we see the Shaw Savill liner 'Dominion Monarch'.

New Zealand, a set with five stamps, 150 Years of Stamps 1855 - 1905. Among them this stamp with a lighthouse
from 1891 Government Life, a life insurance. And this lady with a globe and
a ship in the background, given as COUNTESS or DUCHESS in different sources (Information: Auke Palmhof). As it is
difficult to see the ship, beside the original stamp from 1901.

South-Korea, a se-tenant with five stamps about fish, Nature of Marado. Among them this stamp with a lighthouse.
Marado is an island south of the Korean peninsula.
