The Americans Eugene B. Ely succeeded on 14th November 1910 by one in front of the USS Birmingham
mounted platform with a Curtiss biplane, the first launch from a ship.
Two months later, on 18th January 1911, he succeeded the first landing on a ship.
He landed his plane on the USS Pennsylvania, which was equipped with special wooden
platform.

the British Treasury under the condition that Cunard and White Star merge.
In 1935, the combining was completed and Cunard White Star was born.
